Judo prides itself on tradition, respect and mutual welfare, and unfortunately as the Covid hiatus takes us away from the mats for another time, behind the scenes the Board of the Federation have been advancing our approach and outlook to the members.
Part of this, is being integral in the agreement to the Human Rights in Sport statements from the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, and the recognition of our involvement within it.
The Declaration on Sports and Human Rights is a statement of intent, that everyone within the NIJF and in Judo is treated fairly, with transparency and without discrimination.
It’s about treating everyone with the respect that they deserve both on and off the mats.
Russell Brown, our Lead Designated Liaison Person for Safeguarding, had the honour of collecting our policy statement agreement.
Judo prides itself on being a sport for all and once it is safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming everyone both new and previous members onto the mats, which always will be a place of respect.
