Referee Training Course
June 8 @ 9:00 am - June 9 @ 5:00 pm
We’re delighted to have Keith Merrick over from the British Judo Association to help us in creating more referees for our events.
Keith is the National Technical and Education Coordinator and Staff Lead for Technical Officiating and Refereeing across the UK and will be leading our sessions.
Without referees, we cannot have competitions as they are integral to the day and afford our players the ability to test their skills on the mats.
On the 8th and 9th June in Coleraine Leisure Centre, we will be staging a course to train referees.
This will be from the club through to the National C level.
You can be 12 years old upwards and a green belt to get started for club referee!
Area requires a blue belt and minimum of 15 years old and National C requires a brown belt and a minimum age of 18 years old.
- The Club and Area course takes place on Saturday 8th June
- The National C course takes place on Sunday 9th June
You will sit the exam on the same day of your course, so please bring a pen and paper.
Being a referee affords lots of benefits.
- You can remain in Judo after retirement on the mats
- You can travel the world and progress as a referee up to Olympic level
- You will learn the most up to date rules if you are still active in Judo
- It’s fantastic for your CV
- It empowers the Federation to stage events with you in control on the mats
