Coaching Course
On the weekend of the 12th and 13th October we had 18 new participants on a level one coaching course, starting their journey as coaches and empowering themselves with skills to start learning about the coaching process.
Russell Brown, who was leading the course said:
“The participants were a credit to their clubs and the knowledge already from the group was impressive, in terms of their technical foundation.
Bill (Taggart) and I were pleasantly surprised by how well the students picked up the key elements of being a coach and delivering judo.
Being able to coach Judo is truly a skill, but the power it brings to those learning is beyond measure, both on the mats and off.
We’re excited to see the future unfold for the students, their own coaches and clubs.”
The participants will now undergo teaching in their own clubs for a set number of weeks under the watch of a level 2 coach, before undertaking assessments in early January.
Funding Support from the Mary Peters Trust!
Then on Monday 14th players and young coaches were welcomed to a reception in Belfast by the Mary Peters Trust to celebrate their receipt of their awards to support them on their journeys to progress as a player or support others by becoming a coach.
A fantastic night was had by everyone in attendance, and Mary Peters was as inspiring as always with her infectious smile and enthusiasm for seeing young people progress in sport.
Congratulations to everyone who received the award and thank you to those behind the scenes that made them happen for our members.
