Female Fighters Festival: Empowerment, Skill & Community

The Female Fighters Festival on the 14th of March celebrates the strength, resilience, and shared spirit of women in martial arts and beyond. It’s a welcoming space where beginners, experienced athletes, coaches, and enthusiasts come together to learn, connect, and support one another.

This festival is all about empowerment, community, and the joy of training together.

  • 2:00pm at Causeway Judo Club (C/O North Coast Grappling, Ballymoney)
  • Please bring water with you.

On‑the‑Mat Session with Sarah Barritt — Assisted by Willow Robertson
We’re excited to host an inclusive grappling session led by Northern Ireland Judo’s lead Performance Coach Sarah Barritt, with support from international competitor Willow Robertson.

Designed for all levels — from complete beginners to experienced grapplers — this session offers a dynamic and supportive experience for anyone looking to build confidence, develop skills, find out more about Judo and how it can help all round performance as well as enjoying time on the mats.

Featured Presentation: Rachael Hawkes — Open to Female Athletes
We are also proud to feature a powerful presentation from Commonwealth Games Athlete Rachael Hawkes, again open to female athletes across all disciplines. Rachael will be exploring key topics designed to support women in combat sports and physical training, including:

  • Nutrition and weight management for female fighters
  • Understanding how your menstrual cycle influences nutrition and weight management
  • Optimising your training around the phases of your menstrual cycle

This session blends insight from Rachael’s studies with evidence‑informed guidance, giving attendees the tools to train smarter, support their bodies, and feel confident in their performance throughout every stage of the month.

Free to Attend — Registration Required
The Female Fighters Festival is free of charge, but registration is required for all attendees to help us manage numbers, ensure mat safety, and create the best experience possible.

Join us for a day dedicated to the women who train, who lift each other up, and who continue to strengthen our community — on and off the mats.
