The Northern Ireland Judo Federation is celebrating a major milestone as three athletes from the Talent Development Squad—Aodhan McGivern, Conall McGivern, and Quinn Armstrong—earned world rankings following their impressive performances at the Amman Asian Open, an IJF Continental event.
Each athlete placed 7th in their respective category, securing a coveted spot on the International Judo Federation’s world ranking list.
This achievement reflects not only the athletes’ individual grit and skill, but also the tireless work behind the scenes at the Pathway Squad and their home club, The Judo Academy.
From early morning conditioning to late-night drills, their journey has been defined by discipline, resilience, and a shared vision for excellence.
Coach Sarah Barritt, who leads the squad, commented:
“Stepping onto the international stage was a huge moment for us—but what’s even more exciting is how this success now trickles down into our Pathway Squad sessions. The energy, the belief, the standard—it’s all elevated. These rankings aren’t just numbers; they’re proof that our system works and that our athletes can compete with the best in the world.”
This result underscores the growing strength of the Northern Ireland Judo Federation and its commitment to building a legacy of competitive excellence and community-driven development.
