Following on from the success of our Pathway Squad sessions which have been taking place across N.I., we’re delighted to announce that at our next session, we will also be introducing the Pathway Academy to our training roster.
The Academy will give our younger Judoka (10 years plus and 4th Mon up) the chance to develop themselves as player and to also train with new partners from different clubs, adapting to technique delivery and gaining valuable experience on the mats.
The Academy will be delivered by the Pathway Coaching Team of Stephen McCluskey and Jim Toland, who are ably assisted by Jozsef Balogh and Paul Price.
Since Covid restrictions are lifted, coaches are now able to attend the sessions in a spectator (non-participant) role to watch the delivery of the lesson in action and help with feedback to the players after the session.
Future for the Squads:
Not only do the participants receive their squad badges, but down the line we are planning to stage a Squad Championship for the participants and also look to take selected players to compete both in the North and South of Ireland as well as a potential trip to other areas of the UK.
Following on from a recent meeting with the Coaches, Commercial Manager and the Program Director it is our intention to add value to the sessions for our players.
This will be as a thank you for their commitment.
We will also be releasing dedicated Pathway Squad apparel for the team to have their own kit and identity as part of their participation.
Join Us:
If any of the younger Judoka are eligible and the coaches feel this would be suited to them, they are welcome to join us on the 11th June at the Longtower Venue.
